Polonne

Polonne (Ukrainian Полонне; Russian Полонное / Polonnoje, Polish Polonne ) is about 86 kilometers north of the Oblasthauptstadt Khmelnytsky on the river Chomora a town in Ukraine.

The town was first mentioned in 996 and was initially written in Poland in Kiev Voivodeship. In the 16th century known for its castle site was awarded the Magdeburg Law, 1795 was the place to Russia and was administratively in the government of Volhynia. 1873 north of the town, the railway Sdolbuniw - Shepetivka (now part of the railway line Kovel - Kosjatyn ) opened Polonne got a station on this route.

1938 Polonne again received the town charter, the city, together with the village Hannussyne ( Ганнусине ), located to the west, a township and is the capital of Rajons Polonne.
