Poltava Oblast

The Poltava Oblast (Ukrainian Полтавська область / Poltawska oblast, Russian Полтавская область / Poltavskaya oblast ) is one of 25 administrative units ( oblasts of Ukraine) in the interior of Ukraine. It has 1.46 million inhabitants (2014). The oblast is surrounded by the Chernihiv oblasts and Sumy in the north and to the west by the Kiev and Cherkasy oblasts; Kirovohrad Oblast is located in the southwest. The southeastern border lies at the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and the east borders the Oblast to the Oblast Kharkiv.

The Poltava Oblast is administratively divided into 25 Rajone and 5 directly below the Oblastverwaltung cities. These are the cities of Komsomolsk, Kremenchug, Lubny Myrhorod as well as the eponymous administrative center of the oblast, the city of Poltava.
