Polydextrose
Polydextrose (E 1200) is a synthetic compound selected from glucose, sorbitol and citric acid.
The chain-like sugar-like, long-chain molecule can not be broken down and has a laxative effect on the human organism from a single dose of about 50 g or a daily dose of about 90 g of the digestive enzymes.
Polydextrose is added in the food industry as a carrier, filler and humectant foods. It is generally accepted in the EU as a food additive called E 1200 no maximum limit for food.
