Polytechnic University of the Philippines

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines ( PUP), (Filipino: Politeknikong Pamantasan ng Pilipinas ) is a state university in the Philippines and is considered an important educational institution in the administrative regions of Central Luzon, Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON and Bicol Region. The University main campus is located in A. Mabini Campus at Anonas Street, Sta. Mesa, Manila. It is the largest public university of the Philippines. There enroll each semester approximately 70,000 students at the university one. It studied several hundred foreign students at various campuses, as from the People's Republic of China, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Tanzania, Nigeria and Ghana.

Faculties

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines is home to various faculties, these are divided into high school and technical college areas, as well as vocational education in colleges. These are the College of Accountancy and Finance, College of Architecture and Fine Arts, College of Arts and Letters, College of Business Administration, College of Communication, College of Computer and Information Sciences, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Human Kinetics, College of Law, College of Nutrition and Food Science, College of Public Administration, College of Science, College of Social Sciences and Development, College of Tourism, Hospitality and Transportation Management, The Institute of Technology ( ITech ), The PUP Open University, Graduate School and the PUP Laboratory high School.

Locations

History

The history of the university began on 19 October 1904 as the Manila Business School ( MBS) has been opened. In 1908 she was renamed as the Philippine School of Commerce (PSC). From 1933 to 1946, she was merged with the Philippine Normal School (PNS ), and in 1952 she was awarded the status of a college, the Philippine College of Commerce ( PCC). The university was a center of leftist First Quarter Storm Movement, January-March 1970. The College was awarded on April 1, 1978 the status of a university, so the Polytechnic University of the Philippines could be opened. In 1989, the first time in the Philippines was the concept of the Open University to the campus in Taguig and 1990, launched on other six sites, which also distance learning programs are offered. In 2000, the Information and Communications Technology Center (PUP ICT Center ) was inaugurated.
