Pom Prap Sattru Phai District

Pom Prap Sattru Phai ( Thai ป้อมปราบศัตรูพ่าย ) is one of the 50 districts ( Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. Pom Prap Sattru Phai is located in the downtown area.

Geography

Pom Prap Sattru Phai is bounded on the north and east of Khlong Krung Kasem Phadung, in the south of Charoen Krung Road, and to the west by Khlong Rob Krung ( in this section " Khlong Ong Ang ") and Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue from.

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Dusit, Ratchathewi, Pathum Wan, Bang Rak, Samphanthawong and Phra Nakhon. The district is named after an old fort ( in Thai: Pom ) near the Nang Loeng market.

Attractions

  • Golden Mount ( in Thai ภูเขาทอง or พระบรม บรรพต ) inside the Wat Saket ( วัด สระ เกศ ).
  • Wat Mongkon Kamalawat ( Thai: วัด มังกร กมลา วา ส, also: Wat Leng Nei Yi - วัด เล่ ง เน่ ย ยี่ ), known Mahayana Temple in "China Town".
  • Varadis Palace ( Wang Varadis ) - here used to live Prince Damrong Rajanubhab. The palace was designed in 1911 by the German architect Karl Siegfried Döring. The building near the busy Thanon Lan Luang (Lan Luang Road ) was renovated in 1996 to mark the 53rd anniversary of the death of the prince and in a museum with attached library (the " Prince Damrong Rachanupab Museum and Library " ) converted.
  • The Ratchadamnoen Stadium, which shows traditional Thai boxing.
  • Known markets nearby: Talat Bo Be ( ตลาด โบ๊เบ๊ - Bo -Be Market), a major apparel market with mostly cheaper goods.
  • Khlong Tom ( คลอง ถม ), a weekend market for electronic devices, even from second hand.

Traffic

In addition to the usual road can be found in the district Pom Prap Sattru Phai speedboats Khlong Maha Nak on the ( คลอง มหานาค ) and the Khlong Saen Saep. The route begins at the Phan Fa Lilat Bridge ( near Golden Mount) and ends at Pratu Nam in Pathum Wan / Ratchathewi, where passengers can transfer to other boot lines.

The Bangkok Skytrain is to be continued on the current terminus at the National Stadium in the district and there operate two stations: one near the Huachiew hospital and another near the Golden Mount.
