Pommeau

Pommeau aperitif or digestif is from Normandy. Pommeau is made from freshly pressed apple juice, which is prevented by the addition of young Calvados on fermentation. This will get the full apple flavor, sweetness of fruit and pleasant acidity.

1991 raised to the appellation, 30 apple varieties may be used, the choice of deciding on the flavor. Mandatory is a 14 months long barrel aging.

There are the appellations pommeau de Bretagne and pommeau de Normandie.

Pommeau is usually drunk cold as an aperitif. But pommeau is also particularly suitable for desserts with apple, chocolate and melon.

Pommeau has an alcohol content of 17 vol - %.
