Pommery

Pommery champagne is a well known brand. The company was established in 1856. In 2002, the group Vranken Monopole the brand. Pommery uses the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

History

Pommery & Greno was founded in 1856 by Alexandre Louis Pommery and Narcisse Greno. Core business was the wool trade. Louise Pommery, the company built the famous Champagne brand from the end of the 19th century.

Louise Pommery

Jeanne Alexandrine Louise Mélin was born on 18 March 1819 in the Ardennes. She married Alexandre Pommery in 1839. According to Alexandre's death in 1860, Louise Pommery took over the management of Pommery & Greno and established the trading company consistently on the production and trade in champagne. She recognized the importance of the by Roman soldiers carved into the chalk cliffs of rock passages for the storage of wine as one of the first.
