Pomplamoose

Pomplamoose is an American indie music duo with multi-instrumentalists Jack Conte and Natalie Dawn Knutsen, who performs under the name Nataly Dawn. The band was formed in the summer of 2008 and sold in 2009 approximately 100,000 songs over the Internet.

Etymology

The band's name is derived from the French word pamplemousse ( grapefruit).

Recordings and performances

Despite the presence of the band, which occurs mainly through video uploads on YouTube and MySpace, and in spite of the few live performances, Pomplamoose has on their YouTube channel has 340,000 subscribers (as at January 2012). The band won for the first time widespread recognition when their video version of the song Hail Mary was featured on the YouTube homepage. The duo recently produced the latest music album of Julia Nunes.

On 11 April 2010, the band in the show All Things Considered by the U.S. radio station National Public Radio interviewed. Conte discussed the "glitter -free " manner in which they record their videos:

April 2010 was their cover version of " Mr. Used Sandman "by The Chordettes in a commercial for Toyota Avalon. The commercial played in an Art Deco train station. The A1 Telekom Austria used the song also for their Xmas advert in autumn 2011.

In September of 2010, Pomplamoose recorded a collaboration piece with Allee Willis, which was called " Jungle Animal". Willis contacted the duo after they had heard Pomplamooses cover of the song " September " by the group Earth, Wind and Fire, and offered them to write the new song.

During the Christmas season 2010 Pomplamoose has appeared in various commercials in her style of their YouTube videos for Hyundai by playing their version known Christmas songs such as " Adeste Fideles ," " Jingle Bells ," " Up on the Housetop " and " Deck the Halls ".

Pomplamoose began a weekly interactive webcast "Hey, It's Pomplamoose: A Show about Pomplamoose and Other Things" in 2011.

Solo careers

Both Conte and Dawn maintain their solo careers upright; they publish videos on YouTube and songs on the iTunes Store. Conte has two EPs recorded - Sleep in Color and Nightmares and Daydreams. He published together with the video Songs Volume I collection from the iTunes Store. Contes use of Electro- Harmonix Music equipment was presented by the company in several videos. Contes first notable appearance in the mainstream media was when he said "teenage boy" character in the popular video game The Sims 2 lent his voice. Conte first received widespread attention when his video Yeah Yeah Yeah was featured on YouTube's home page. The video, which was animated in stop-motion, has received 800,000 views (as of January 2012). The majority of his new music is as singles on YouTube in the form of " video songs " ( explained in the article recordings and performances ) published.

Conte has his new album with 15 songs put the finishing touches. It will be released this year. The album title has not yet been published.

Critics have reviewed Conte's solo career positively. They praised moving passages from the lyrics of Sleep in Color the creative placement of his "Video Songs" and his tendency to create its own niche in the Internet music market.
