Pomponius Bassus (consul 211)

Pomponius Bassus was a Roman politician and senator beginning of the 3rd century.

His father was probably Gaius Pomponius Bassus Terentianus, Suffektkonsul to 193 Bassus was 211 ordinary consul and was 212-217 legate of Moesia ( inferior or superior).

Bassus was married Annia Faustina with who was probably a descendant of Marcus Aurelius. When the Roman Emperor Elagabalus wanted her, he let Bassus 221 summarily executed. The marriage between Elagabalus and Annia Faustina, however, lasted only a few months.
