Pomponius Bassus (consul 259 & 271)

Pomponius Bassus [ ... ] stus was a Roman politician and senator of the 3rd century AD

Pomponius ' official career is narrated by a Greek inscription; thereafter he was proconsul, probably the province of Africa or Asia (after 259), then comes Augusti, perhaps under Emperor Gallienus, Claudius Gothicus or; after he was corrector totius Italiae ( governor of the whole of Italy ), probably approximately 268 / 269th In the year 271 Pomponius held the ordinary consulate. The Metropolitan Prefecture will have Pomponius probably occupied in the year 270 or 271.

Pomponius was Promagister of the priests quorum of the pontiffs. His wife was Pomponia Gratidia.
