Altinate

Once Brenta

The Ponte Altinate is a Roman segmental arch bridge in Padua (Italy). The late Republican bridge once crossed a branch of the Brenta, which is now filled up the street Riviera del Ponti Romani. The building is located at the junction with Via Altinate, completely sealed from the modern road surface.

The Arrow ratio is 4:1 for the main vault and 3.7:1 for the side arches; the relationship between internal diameter and pillar strength is 5:1.

Also located below the present street level is close to the Ponte San Lorenzo, which is underground but accessible and open to visitors at certain opening times.
