Pontiac Aztek (2001-2005)

The Pontiac Aztek is a crossover SUV that offered the U.S. automakers Pontiac 2001-2005.

Model history

The Pontiac Aztek was based on the design study of the same name shown in 1999.

The production version was introduced for the 2001 model year and attracted by their unusual and rather unpopular design sensation.

The choice was between a base and the Aztek Aztek GT, both with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive available; the model had a rear -wheel independent suspension, the base model a rear rigid axle. The Aztek was powered by a 3.4 -liter V6 petrol engine, which transferred its power through an electronically controlled four-speed automatic.

For the model year 2002, the plastic panels on the body, waiving the previous corrugations were smooth designed and painted in body color, the front turn signals were clear glass covers and the glass tailgate received a mounted spoiler.

2003 Aztek Rally Edition appeared with the front lowered suspension, a larger rear spoiler, grille in body color and chrome 17 -inch wheels. New extras included a DVD player, XM satellite radio, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

As of 2004 stood at an additional cost CD/MP3 player available.

In a survey of the British newspaper the Daily Telegraph in August 2008, the readers were asked about the one hundred ugliest cars of all time; it won the Pontiac Aztek the first place. Spiegel Online voted him in February 2009 to one of the 10 ugliest cars of all time.

Others

  • The main character Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston ) of the American television series Breaking Bad drives a Pontiac Aztek. This car can be seen in almost every episode at the beginning of the series and is repeatedly damaged during the course of the story, a running gag is similar, for example, the windscreen several times to break.
