Pontinha is a municipality at the Portuguese circuit Odivelas in Lisbon District. It covers an area of 4.6 km ² and has 22 824 inhabitants (as at 30 June 2011).

Location

Pontinha is located on the northern outskirts of Lisbon. Neighboring municipalities are Famões and Odivelas (both in the county Odivelas ) Alfornelos, Brandoa and São Brás (in the circle Amadora ) and Carnide ( Lisbon).

History

The municipality was created in 1984 by separating Odivelas and was on 16 August 1991 Vila ( town ) levied. In Pontinha is the regimento de Engenharia n º 1, which was the command post of the Armed Forces Movement in the Carnation Revolution in April 1974. Since 1997, the city on the Metro Station Pontinha is connected to the network of the Lisbon Metro. Between 1991 and 2001, the church lost about 22 % of residents.
