Pontotoc County (Mississippi)

Pontotoc County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Pontotoc. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

History

Pontotoc County was formed on February 9, 1836 from the Chickasaw country. It was named, as well as the district capital, according to an Indian expression.
