Pontus Farnerud

Pontus Farnerud ( born June 4, 1980 in Helsingborg) is a Swedish football player. The midfielder, who made his debut in the Swedish national team in 2002, played in the course of his career outside of Sweden in France, Portugal and Norway.

Career

Farnerud began his professional career at Landskrona BoIS. From there he moved to AS Monaco, with whom he won in 2000 denfranzösischen title. In 2003, he was loaned for one season to Racing Strasbourg. After he then in turn was a year in the Squad from AS Monaco, in 2005 he moved permanently to Racing Alsace. However, at his brother Alexander the side he had only one season at the club before moving to Sporting Lisbon after the relegation from Ligue 1. In 2008 he returned to Northern Europe and signed a contract with Stabæk IF in the Norwegian Tippeligaen. With the club he could celebrate their first league title in the club's history at the end of the year.

2002 Farnerud came to his first stakes in the Swedish National Jersey and was included in the World Cup squad in 2002, without being used. In the following two years he was part of the extended squad, but was infrequently used. At the European Championship 2004, he was again appointed to the squad, but remained again without tournament use. After nine scoreless internationals he has not been appointed since 2004.
