Pope Adeodatus I

Adeodatus I ( also known as Deusdedit I.; † November 8 618, Rome ) was dated 19 October 615 until his death Pope. His name means: God-given (Latin ). He is venerated in the Roman Catholic Church as a saint.

He was born in Rome as son of a subdeacon Stephen. He was the first ( bulla ) used a papal seal on official documents. From this time the term comes Papal bull.

It is reported Adeodatus had been a Benedictine monk, but this is not confirmed.

Adeodatus I died on November 8, 618 in Rome. The cause of death is unknown, he probably died of the plague.

His feast day is a Catholic day of his death on November 8.
