Pope Anianus of Alexandria

The Holy Anianus of Alexandria was the successor of Mark the Evangelist Bishop of Alexandria in the 1st century.

The only sources in which he is mentioned, the apocryphal Acts of St. Mark and the list of the bishops of Alexandria, Eusebius of Caesarea, however, contains only his name.

According to the Coptic legend was Anianus the first Christian in Alexandria: When the evangelist Mark came to Alexandria, he went missing and tore his sandal.
