Pope Felix III

Felix II († March 1 492 ) was bishop of Rome from 483 until his death. Its name is Latin and means " the lucky one ".

In another count, he appears as Felix III. Because it 355-358 Pope Felix II was a matter which is regarded partly as anti-pope, partly as the rightful pope. He is sometimes called Felix III. ( II ) and Felix II (III ) denotes, depending on whether the pontificate of the Antipope Felix II was rated as lawful or unlawful.

Originally from Roman senatorial Felix, son of a priest, entered already married into the priesthood. At this time he was the father of several children. As a deacon Felix was elected on 13 March 483, with the approval king Odoacer to the Pope.

In a time of strife between Nestorians, Chalcedoniern ( Orthodox ) and Monophysites had Acacius, the Patriarch of Constantinople Opel, 482 wrote the Henotikon.
