Pope Pelagius II

Pelagius II († February 7 590) was Bishop of Rome on 26 November 579 until February 7, 590 Pelagius II was born Romans, but his father was a Goth.

His pontificate coincided with the threat of Rome by the Lombards. After he saw himself not sufficiently supported by Byzantium, he asked as the first bishop of Rome, the Franks for help, but without success.

He died of a " plague " that disease.
