Poperinge is a Belgian city in the Flanders region. It is located in the province of West Flanders Arrondissement Ypres in Belgium. The city has 19,989 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012) and an area of 119.33 km ².
Geography
Poperinge is located just a few kilometers from the French border in the far west of Belgium. Ypres located 11 kilometers east of the Belgian coast on the English Channel at Nieuwpoort 33 km north, 37 km east of Kortrijk and Brussels, 115 km east (all figures in a straight line up to the respective city center).
Partnership
For about 30 years there has been twinned with the German city Wolnzach. The Polish county town Krasnystaw 1995 twinned Poperinges. Since May 30, 2009 Poperinge maintains a partnership with the German community Frielendorf in Schwalm-Eder -Kreis.
Traffic
