Popeye Village

Popeye Village, also known as Sweet Haven Village, is a town scenery in Malta in 1979 for the film Popeye the director Robert Altman - The sailor had set up with the hard hit. Today, the site is used as a recreational park.

Location

The place is located about two kilometers west of the city of Mellieha, in the northwest of the island of Malta on the banks of Anchor Bay. The construction was started in 1979, and it took about seven months until the site was completed with 19 wooden houses, roads and port facilities.

Amusement Park

The village remained after the film shoot intact and is now used as Popeye Village Fun Park. The park is open every day of the week and in addition to the characteristic houses also shows and boat trips on the Anchor Bay. In some houses various props of the film are on display. A movie theater with about 40 seats in the town center a film informs visitors about the set construction and the film shoot.

After two fires, the Popeye Village was rebuilt each in the same style. The Fun Park especially smaller children are addressed.
