Popovica (Negotin)

Popovica (Cyrillic Поповица ) is a village in the Opština Negotin, in the Bor district in the east of Serbia. The village lies on the River Jasenická Reka.

History

It is believed that the village is formed at the beginning of the 16th century, then, it had 35 houses. The name is said by a priest ( Serbian: Pop, German pastor ) originate, who settled there.

It is also assumed that the early inhabitants of the village from Kosovo come, but there is no evidence.
