The People's Petition for Freedom, Justice and Development (French Pétition populaire pour la liberté, la justice et le développement, Arabic العريضة الشعبية للحرية والعدالة والتنمية, DMG al - ʿ Arida aš - Ša ʿ Biya li - l - hurriya wa-l - ʿ Adala wa - t- tanmiya ), abbreviated people's petition or Al Aridha Chaabia, is a Tunisian party that is officially organized as an independent political initiative.

Policy program

The ideology of the People's petition is populism. The founder of the People's petition, the millionaire Mohamed Hashim Hamdi from the government of Sidi Bouzid, resides in London, where he wrote a number of columns in the daily newspaper Asharq al - Awsat, before he founded his television channel Al Mustaquilla in 1999. Originally trailer Islamist tendencies, Hamdi quickly became allies of the regime of Ben Ali. History

The group was founded on 17 March 2011 after the Jasmine Revolution that has the President Zine el- Abidine Ben Ali overthrown.

Several candidates of the People's Petitions have won 23 October 2011 seats in the Constituent Assembly, which makes the group with 27 of 217 seats again the third largest political force in the country. The unexpected success is also obtained that the southern Tunisian derived Hashim Hamdi is very well received in the population of the southern and central provinces, since so far only representatives from Tunis and the Mediterranean coast dominated Tunisian politics.
