Porsche 911 Carrera at the IAA 2011

The Porsche 991 is the total of seventh generation of the Porsche 911 since its conception in 1963. The official world premiere of the sports car was on 15 September 2011 at the 64th IAA for cars at the Frankfurt Fair. The launch took place on 3 December 2011.

Development and design features

Compared to the previous model, which bears the model number 997, the 991 changed in appearance only slightly. The wheelbase has grown over the 997 to 100 mm, the total length but only by 56 millimeters.

The newly designed LED tail lights are narrower than the 997. Moreover, already in the first pictures a revised front apron with enlarged air intakes could be seen. The two mirrors are as already fastened at 993 back to the two doors, instead of in the window 997ern 996ern and triangle, as was also made in the revision of all models in the Porsche Cayenne 92A.

The strengthened six-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement from 3.4 to 3.8 liters as well as gasoline direct injection consume less fuel, thanks to start-stop technology and other measures up to twelve percent.

Models

911 Carrera

The premiere at the IAA only the rear-drive 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S have been shown as a coupe. 911 GT3
