The Porsche Panamericana is a study of Porsche. It was presented at the 1989 IAA in Frankfurt am Main. The base formed the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 The design was by Dutchman Harm Lagaay, the name of the legendary Carrera Panamericana long-distance race.

History

The futuristic design, especially the concept of horizontal roof structure, strongly influenced the further development of the Porsche 993 and the new Porsche Boxster.

From Panamericana only two were built. One of them was Ferry Porsche on his 80th birthday as a gift from the entire workforce.

As a reminder, each employee was given a 1:43 scale model on a brass plate given. This model has been out in the years become a coveted collector's item, and then also achieved prices in excess of 500 DM

A copy of the Pan-American Highway is now on display in the new Porsche Museum in Stuttgart- Zuffenhausen. On the tread of the tires of the Panamericana Porsche logo is pictured. The tires were made ​​by Goodyear.
