Port Antonio is the capital of the Parish Portland on the northeastern coast of Jamaica, located about 100 km northeast of Kingston.

In 1982 had 12,285 inhabitants Port Antonio and 1991, the population had grown to 13,246. At last count in 2001, there were around 15,000 people.

Port Antonio is the third- largest port in Jamaica, mostly as a shipping port for bananas and coconuts. The harbor is a tourist attraction and tourism is an important source of income for the local economy. In Port Antonio middle of the 19th century were the first tourists to the island. Banana transporter they brought with them from the U.S., especially from Boston. At this time, the city was also called World's Banana Capital.
