The administrative headquarters of the council is located in the town of Port Macquarie, where about 39,000 inhabitants.

The Council of Port Macquarie -Hastings has nine members. Eight Councillor and the Council President and Mayor ( Mayor ) are directly elected by all residents of the LGA. Port Macquarie -Hastings is not divided into districts.
