Port Macquarie -Hastings is located on the East Coast in the Mid- North Coast region of the state 390 km northeast of the city of Sydney and 560 km south of Brisbane. The area covers 116 districts and towns, including Bell Angry, Birdwood, Bonny Hills, Byabarra, Camden Haven, Comboyne, Ellenborough, North Haven, West Haven, Dunbogan, Gannons Creek, Herons Creek, Kendall, Kew, Kindee, Lake Cathie, Lakewood, Laurieton, Long Flat, Lorne, Mortons Creek, Pappinbarra, Pembrooke, Port Macquarie, Rolland's Plains, Telegraph Point, Wauchope and Yarra. The administrative headquarters of the council is located in the town of Port Macquarie, where about 39,000 inhabitants.
The Council of Port Macquarie -Hastings has nine members. Eight Councillor and the Council President and Mayor ( Mayor ) are directly elected by all residents of the LGA. Port Macquarie -Hastings is not divided into districts.
