Port of Cape Town

The port of Cape Town (English Port of Cape Town) is a seaport in the Republic of South Africa and is located in Table Bay on the northwestern outskirts of Cape Town on the Atlantic Ocean.

Operators and managers is the Transnet National Ports Authority.

History

The history of the port goes back to the Dutch East India Company. The company built the Victoria and Alfred Basins in 1652, before the bay was an anchorage. The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the Cape Town Waterfront historically preserved.

Economic Importance

In the port general cargo, bulk, raw materials and containers are handled. He is also a fishing and cruise port and a marina. About the port most fruits of the country are exported.
