Port of Singapore

Singapore has traditionally possessed several port facilities due to its extensive coastline and several smaller islands. The entire consignment of highly developed port facilities extends today on the southwest coast of the main island and several smaller islands south upstream about 30 kilometers. Here, a logistically sensible division of labor has emerged: general cargo, bulk cargo and fish, oil and petrochemical products, container and passenger traffic each have their own ports.

There are the following ports in Singapore:

  • Freight ports Port of Singapore, the largest cargo port
  • Jurong Port
  • Keppel Harbour ( between Pulau Brani and Sentosa )
  • Serangoon Harbour
  • Singapore Cruise Centre

These ports are located on the major shipping routes between Southeast Asia and Europe. The investments are managed by two operators: PSA International and Jurong Port Pte Ltd ( Jurong Port ). At the latest after independence, the port facilities in the south of the country had an enormous share of the economic growth of the city state. The harbor is now an important economic factor in the country.

All freight ports together form the largest port in the world by tonnage, cargo handling and transshipment. Here half of the transported annually in the world amount is turned over to petroleum. There are 1000 berths and a multiple of anchorages. It will be made available about 300 cranes at the ports.
