Port Reading is a settlement and census-designated place within the town of Woodbridge in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. In the 2010 census, 3728 inhabitants were registered.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 7.4 km ², of which 5.8 km ² of land and 1.6 km ² (21.75 %) is water.

History

Port Reading was built by the Reading Railroad of Pennsylvania as a trading port, especially for the degraded in Pennsylvania anthracite coal in the late 19th century. In 1892, the Port of Bound Brook, New Jersey, manufactures, coupled with a new railway line, the Port Reading Railroad.
