Port BE

Port ( in local dialect [ po ː ɾt ] ) is a municipality in the administrative district of Biel / Bienne Canton of Berne in Switzerland. The municipality, also called municipality, consists only of the same village port. With the same limits, there is the civic community port. The municipality is part of the agglomeration of the bilingual city of Biel / Bienne.

History

This is a late Roman harbor (lat. Portum ) resulting village lay at the Zihl, which was merged with the first Jura waters correction with the Nidau- Buren - channel. The church is first mentioned in 1228.
