Porta Metronia

The Porta Porta Metronia or Metrovia was a gate in the built 271-275 AD Aurelian Walls in Rome and was at the point where a metropi than via traditional street had its beginnings to the Via Latina.

With the gate in the southern section of the wall guide, it was just a simple arcuate opening, without towers or other fortifications. Another name Metrobi, metronidazole, Metrosi and similar forms have survived. The gate corresponded with the porta Querquetulana the Servian walls.

The gate was probably at installation of Marrana Mariana, one under Pope Calixtus II, built in 1122 channel, which replaced the aqua Iulia, closed. For only 2.50 meters were between the intrados of the gate and the uncovered water flowing down the channel.
