Portacomaro
Portacomaro is a municipality with 2006 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Asti (AT ), Region Piedmont. The neighboring municipalities are Asti, Calliano, castagnole Monferrato and Scurzolengo.
Pope Francis
From the place the family of Pope Francis, who 's real name is Jorge Mario Bergoglio comes. His grandfather Giovanni Angelo Bergoglio had six children, of whom one son, Mario Bergoglio, emigrated to Argentina and there found a job with the railroad. The Pope is said today the dialect of the area to speak Portacomaro and dominate the songs of the emigrant.

Specialty
In Portacomaro vines of Barbera for the Barbera d'Asti, a DOCG red wine are grown with status, as well as for the Barbera del Monferrato.
