Porter County, Indiana

Porter County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Valparaiso.

Geography

The County is located in northwest Indiana, bordered on the north by Lake Michigan and has an area of 1351 square kilometers, of which 268 square kilometers, corresponding to 19.84 per cent, of water are. History

Porter County was formed on February 7, 1835 from parts of St. Joseph County. It was named after David Porter, a commodore in the British - American War of 1812.
