The Portland Pirates are an ice hockey team in the American Hockey League. They play at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine. Their club colors are red and black.

History

The Pirates were founded in 1993 as a farm team of the Washington Capitals. A year earlier had been ( 1977-1992 ) moved away and renamed the Providence Bruins, the Maine Mariners. When the Baltimore Skipjacks ( 1982-1993 ) decided to change the location, they moved to Portland and you founded the Portland Pirates. 2005 ended the Capitals cooperation with the Pirates and the band signed a co-operation with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
