Porto San Giorgio

Porto San Giorgio is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 15,826 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the Province of Fermo in the Marche. The municipality is located on the Adriatic Sea. Here the Ete Vivo flows into the sea. The town itself is located about 5 kilometers east of Fermo.

History

Already Pliny the Elder mentioned the place Navale Firmanorum.

Community partnerships

Porto San Giorgio maintains an intra- Italian partnership with the community Gessopalena in the province of Chieti and two at the Croatian city Biograd na Moru in the Zadar County and the Upper Austrian town of Bad Ischl.

Traffic

Porto San Giorgio is connected to the rail network with a station on the railway from Ancona to Pescara. The previously existing connection after Amandola on a narrow-gauge railway was closed in 1956. Through the municipal area leads the Autostrada A14 and the Strada Statale 16 Adriatica.
