Porto Tolle

Porto Tolle is a Northeast Italian municipality ( comune ) with 10,009 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Rovigo in Veneto. The municipality is situated approximately 45 km east-southeast of Rovigo and about 57 km east-northeast of Ferrara at the mouth of the Po into the Adriatic Sea on the eastern edge of the Polesina. The administrative center of the municipality is located in the village of Ca ' Tiepolo. With an area of ​​over 200 square kilometers of Porto Tolle belongs to the (100 geographically ) the largest communities in Italy.

History

The community is an amalgamation of many small towns in the swampy estuary of the Po Delta. The area was in the Middle Ages under the influence of the Venetian Republic.

Community partnerships

Porto Tolle maintains since 2010 a partnership with the Hungarian village Medulin in Istria County and since 2010 also an intra- Italian partnership with the Municipality Trecate in the province of Novara (Piedmont).
