The parliamentary election in Portugal 1991 was held on October 6. It showed a majority for the ruling Social Democratic Party. The Partido Social Democrata won the third election in a row, the second time after 1987 with an absolute majority. Aníbal Cavaco Silva was able to start his third term as prime minister. The turnout was 67.8 %. The election was conducted in accordance with the D' Hondt method.
