Origin and History

The Perdigueiro Português is an old Portuguese hunting breed. The Portuguese Stud assumes that the breed evolved from the podengo de mostra, who lived in the 14th century and have already shown the typical behavior of pointers. This was mainly used for falconry. The name of the breed includes the Portuguese word for partridge Perdiz. The breed type is fixed for centuries.

Description

The Perdigueiro Português is up to 60 cm tall and 27 kg. Yellow and brown, plain or with white spots provided fur with short, strong hair, close fitting, not too soft but dense. The ears are moderately long, thin, soft and covered with fine, dense and short hair.
