Porvoo Communion

The Porvoo Communion ( English: The Porvoo Communion ) is a non-institutional merger of the original ten, now 13 European Churches Anglican and Lutheran denomination. It was created by the Porvoo Common Statement, signed an agreement in 1992 in the town of Porvoo ( Porvoo ) was adopted in Finland and finds the full communion between the churches involved.

The churches of the Porvoo Communion see themselves as part of a Catholic and Apostolic Church, even though the Protestant Reformation is part of their church history. They see themselves connected in a belief of the early Church, in the written and traditional character celebration of the sacraments and the historic episcopate, which although always get in their countries, was passed continuously if not in all member churches ( Apostolic Succession ).

The participating churches are the Anglican churches of the British Isles, the Lutheran Churches of the Nordic countries and the Lutheran churches in the Baltics. Through subsequent negotiations were also the Episcopal ( Anglican ) Church of the Iberian peninsula in the agreement. 2010 finally joined the Danish People's Church of the Community. Denmark had considered it unacceptable that the Church of England recognized no bishops and thus also the ordination of women bishops would not be regarded as valid. These doubts were now considered to be dispelled, the Bishop of Copenhagen, signed the instrument of accession on October 3, 2010.
