Postal codes in Greece

In early 1983, the zip code in Greece was introduced by the Greek Postal ELTA. The Greek postal code consists of five digits and two letters. The first two digits identify the region, the last three digits of the village or the city district.

Internally, the zip codes are in three categories:

  • Category A (localities with multiple zip codes )
  • Category B (localities with postal code )
  • Organizations or companies with eignener postcode

History

Was replaced an older system in which the place name followed by three digits. The classification follows roughly the districts on the status of the implementation date.
