Poste Italiane SpA is a state-owned Italian postal company. It is from the Former Post and Telegraph Administration ( Poste e Telegrafi -PT, and later Poste e Telecomunicazioni ) emerged from the former Italian Post Ministry (later " Ministry of Communications " ) through the conversion into a corporation. At the 13,700 branches of the Italian Post Office not only shipping services offered, but also insurance and banking services. The telecommunications sector has previously been carried out in Italy by companies such as SIP or Italcable that went up in the 1990s in the Telecom Italia. In the Italian post today work for about 145,000 people. Despite the liberalization of postal services, the Italian Post Office still has a monopoly position in Italy.
