Posterior superior alveolar artery

The alveolar artery posterior superior ( " upper rear tooth socket artery ") is an artery of the head in humans.

The alveolar artery posterior superior arises from the third portion of the maxillary artery in the pterygopalatine fossa (wing - palate - pit), often together with the infraorbital artery. It divides into numerous branches, which move into the alveoli of the maxillary posterior teeth ( molars and premolars ) and supply these teeth. In addition, branches supply the gums and the mucosa of the maxillary sinus in this region.
