The post Stadion is a sports stadium in Lehrterstraße 59 in the Berlin district of Moabit and honored as a historic landmark since 30 April 1990. It borders the Fritz- Schloß park.

Constructional plant

The stadium was built for the Post SV Berlin on behalf of the imperial postal service on the grounds of the former parade ground of the Guard Lancers near Berlin's central station.

The system was created by the architect Georg Demmler 1926-1929. The big competition stadium with grandstand for 35,000 spectators was originally surrounded by ten tennis courts, a tennis stadium, four soccer fields, a swimming and rowing hall and a summer pool. The inauguration of the main investment was held on 28 and 29 May 1929.

Parts of the stadium were destroyed in the Second World War and largely rebuilt in 1945, so the game operation in the summer of 1945, and resumed the outdoor pool on August 19, 1945 could be reopened. The rebuilt in modern design indoor pool was closed in 1984 and then converted to a gym.

The sports complex is now managed by the county center and consists essentially of a large field with natural grass, five large fields with artificial turf, a small playing field with artificial turf, two track and field facilities, a gym, a rowing simultaneous conditioning and a roller skating rink. In 2003 was begun to renovate the stadium with the help of unemployed youths.

Since 2005, the stadium has a synthetic track. In July 2007, the first phase of the renovation work was completed. Since the summer of 2010, the skating rink was renovated and expanded. The plant got a roof and a renewal of some seating and standing areas. Background was more intensive and professional use by the inline skater hockey. A renewal of the existing band has only been planned.

Outstanding events

In Poststadion many football matches of national importance took place particularly in the 1920s and 1930s. 1934 contributed in Poststadion FC Schalke 04 and FC Nuremberg in front of 45,000 spectators first the German Football Finals and 1936, the first FC Nuremberg German champion in the final against Fortuna Dusseldorf. The Poststadion thus replaced the Grunewald stadium where the finals were in 1922, 1923, 1924 and 1927 discharged. The German national football team wore several matches at the stadium post. Football
