Potamia, Cyprus

Potamia ( Dereliköy ) is a village in Cyprus in Nicosia District, in the period of Frankish rule the site of a royal castle. The population was before the Turkish invasion of Turkish- Cypriots and Greek-speaking, now most Muslims have fled to the north.

1521 bought Efgenios Singriticus, a Greek nobleman, at that time ambassador in Nicosia in Venice, the village for more than 5000 ducats. The village was a Allodium who produced wheat but still had to be paid to Venice.
