Geography
The County is located in southwest Iowa to the mouth of the Boyer River in the Missouri River, which forms the border with Nebraska. The Pottawami County has an area of 2486 square kilometers, of which 15 square kilometers are water surface. It borders the following Nachbarcountys:
History
The Pottawattamie County was formed on 21 September 1848. It was named after the Native American people of the Potawatomi.
