Pouancé

Pouancé is a commune with 3079 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Maine -et -Loire in the Pays de la Loire.

Geography

The municipality lies on the River Pouancé Verzée, about 16 kilometers east of Châteaubriant; large-scale seen in the center of the square formed Rennes - Laval - Angers - Nantes. The Verzée flows above Pouarcé the Etang de Saint- Aubin and below the location of the Etang de Tressé.

  • The clock tower of the 15th century, a stately dovecote and the former salt warehouses from the 17th century are classified as Monuments Historiques Inscrites.
  • The high above the valley Verzée ruins of the castle from the 13th and 15th centuries are registered as Monument Historique and Site Inscrit. At the castle wall from the 13th century we find the remains of eleven demolished towers.
  • In the village houses are in the Renaissance style of the 15th century, houses from the 17th century, Lavoirs and a mill.
