Pourlans

Pourlans is a commune in the Bourgogne Saône -et -Loire. It belongs to the district Louhans, for Canton Pierre -de- Bresse and community association Canton de Pierre -de- Bresse. The village has 201 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The inhabitants are Pourlantins, respectively. Called Pourlantines.

Geography

The municipality is the only canton of Pierre -de- Bresse north of the Doubs. To the north of the settlement area is the Forêt de Pourlans from which the wood for rafts, ferries and ships were procured. The forest has some monumental trees, especially an ash tree. The commune includes the following hamlets: Caire, Carcabot, crote, Gravière, Mares, Rougemont, Tuileries, Sellière.

Etymology

The name probably goes back to the Burgundian settlement and therefore to a Germanic name.

History

Pourlans belonged in the 13th century, the house of Vienne and was an after fief of Longwy. The de Vienne gave the possession of the Duke of Burgundy Robert II and in 1656 it finally got to the Jesuits of Dijon. Adopted in 1332 Jean de Vienne a basic order with 50 articles, which largely corresponded to that of Seurre. Pourlans belongs since 1905 to the canton Pierre -de- Bresse, previously it was part of the canton of Verdun- sur -le- Doubs.

Infrastructure

The village has a church, among other things ( from the 17th century, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist ), a Mairie ( Municipal House ), a community hall and kindergarten.
