Povarovo, Moscow Oblast
Powarowo (Russian Поварово ) is an urban-type settlement in Moscow Oblast (Russia) with 7985 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The place is about 30 km northwest of the city edge of the Russian capital Moscow. He is in for Rajon Solnechnogorsky and is located about 15 km south-west of the administrative center Solnechnogorsk. Powarowo is the seat of the homonymous municipality ( gorodskoje posselenije ) to the nine more, nearby small villages and settlements include.
History
The well-known since 1472 Powarowo village belonged in the 17th century boyar Saltykov, later the families Morozov, Naryshkin and others. Until the 20th century it remained insignificant.
In the 1930s, a forestry holding various industries, including a work for deep drilling and geophysical an oil prospecting operation emerged after the Second World War. First multi-storey residential buildings were erected, and in 1960 the town was an urban-type settlement status.

Economy and infrastructure
In Powarowo there is a machine factory, the geological exploration operation Spezgeofisika, a forestry operation and companies engaged in the construction industry, around a larger number of nurseries.
In the village is the station Powarovo -1 on the railway line St. Petersburg - Moscow ( kilometer 598). This is just south of the Great Moscow railway ring with the stations Powarowo -2 ( east of town ) and Powarowo -3 ( south ) crossed. The importance as a railway junction is also reflected in the coat of arms of the settlement, in which the course of the railway lines is shown stylized.
Northeast of the village runs the highway M10, which also connects Moscow and Saint Petersburg. A few kilometers south of Powarowo the M10 is crossed by the Moscow Small Ring A107.
It is believed that there was to about 2010 possibly military purpose shortwave transmitter UVB - 76 in the forest area northeast of Powarowo.
