Pow Wow Smith

Pow Wow Smith is the title of a series of Western comics, which the U.S. publisher DC published since 1949.

Pow Wow Smith is about the experiences of Ohiyesa Smith, called Pow Wow, the sheriff of a small American town in the Midwest of the United States. An unusual aspect - especially for the origination date of the comics - is Smith's ancestry as Sioux Indians. After the first stories of the series had not yet played in the middle of the 20th century, the act was without comment by a century, in the time of the Wild West, moved back in later editions.

The first Pow Wow Smith story appeared in September 1949 in issue # 151 of the series Detective Comics, in which they remained for some years the only Western feature of the series. Author of the respective history and spiritual father of the series was the writer Don Cameron. As a signatory of the first Pow Wow Smith Carmine Infantino story acted so the appearance of the figure significantly shaped. Later Pow Wow Smith was transferred to the Western Comics series where stories of the series until 1961 appeared. In 1970 he published another story of the series in the first issue of the series All- Star Western.

Pow Wow Smith joined also ( voiced by Jonathan Joss ) as the lead character in an episode of Justice League Unlimited on.
